Why Peppermint in Tea Room Bathroom Soap?

Naturally people have taken advantage of "the facilities" in the Thyme Wisper Herb Shop & Tea Room.  I find it very interesting that ALMOST EVERY male who has used my shop's bathroom has commented on the bathroom soap.  They would come out smelling their hands and then commenting on how nice the soap feels and smells.  None recognize the smell and so they ask what it is.  So what is it they are smelling?  Peppermint.

You may remember that I previously wrote about a study that had been done in 2005 on how the smell of peppermint or cinnamon makes drivers more alert and refreshed.  Well, in 2008 The International Journal of Neuroscience published a study that concluded,

Peppermint was found to enhance memory whereas ylang-ylang impaired it, and lengthened processing speed. In terms of subjective mood peppermint increased alertness and ylang-ylang decreased it, but significantly increased calmness.

It is not just memory that peppermint helps.  In 2011 it was published in Agricultural Research magazine that researchers found evidence that peppermint has significant anti-microbial and anti-viral activities, strong antioxidant and anti-tumor actions and some anti-allergenic potential.

So now you know why peppermint is in the Thyme Wisper Herb Shop & Tea Room bathroom.
